HUALAPAI INDIAN TRIBE HONORS GALLAGHER & KENNEDY ATTORNEY TERRENCE W. THOMPSON WITH HUALAPAI MEDAL FOR VALOR
PHOENIX (November 10, 2010) – Terence W. Thompson of Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A., was recently awarded the Hualapai Medal for Valor by the Tribal Council of the Hualapai Indian Tribe, based in northwestern Arizona. The presentation was made by the Tribe’s Vice-Chairman, Richard W. Walema, at an open meeting of the Tribal Council in the Council Chambers in Peach Springs, Arizona. The Hualapai Indian Tribe owns the world-renowned Grand Canyon Skywalk, recently featured in a National Geographic special television presentation. Mr. Thompson received the Hualapai Medal for Valor for his assistance with the Tribe’s legal matters. In presenting the medal, the Vice-Chairman said that the medal is usually presented to members of the Tribe who have served in the military. In addition to the Skywalk, the Hualapai Tribe owns and operates several tourist-oriented enterprises, including:• Grand Canyon West provides tourists with bus tours along the west rim of the Grand Canyon.- The Hualapai Lodge, which opened in June 1997, boasts 60 rooms, a gift shop, and a restaurant.
- The Hualapai River Runners, the only tribal-owned, river-running enterprise on the Colorado River provides Hualapai-guided raft trips on a sixty-mile stretch of the river.
- Wild Life Hunting sells hunting permits and conducts hunts for bighorn sheep, elk, turkey, antelope, and mountain lion.
- The Hualapai Arts & Crafts Enterprise produces custom-designed merchandise.
