Otto Shill Moderates 2024 Mesa Public Schools Candidate Forum

On September 4, 2024, shareholder Otto Shill served as the moderator for the Mesa Public Schools Governing Board candidate forum, hosted by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce. Otto is a Mesa native and has been an active member of the Mesa Chamber for over 12 years, serving on its Board of Directors and Government Affairs Committee.

Five candidates are competing for three open seats on the Governing Board in the upcoming November 5th general election.

Candidates Sharon Benson, Lacy Chaffee, Josh Chilton, Courtney Davis, and Ed Steele are running for the board. Incumbent Courtney Davis was appointed to the board in 2023 and is seeking re-election.

The Governing Board plays a vital role in Mesa Public Schools, setting district goals, approving the budget, curriculum, and textbooks, and hiring and evaluating the Superintendent. Members serve without pay in staggered four-year terms.

Voters will have the opportunity to elect three new members this November to help guide the future of Mesa Public Schools.
