Yusra Bokhari Helps Reinstate Physician’s Status With American Board of Medical Specialties

Yusra Bokhari recently obtained a positive result for a physician client who was facing significant repercussions in the medical community, by employers, state medical boards, and a specialty board due to inconsistent disclosures of reportable offenses by the physician client and the client’s former employer.

This case arose when the physician accepted a position with a telemedicine practice and the new employer sought to obtain numerous licenses for the physician. Providing support in completing the applications, the new employer erred in one of the submissions, which resulted in the physician’s application of medical licensure being denied in one state. That state, in turn, reported the denial to sister jurisdictions and the client faced a number of investigations by sister jurisdictions. Yusra successfully advised the physician client and was able to avoid any additional denials from other state medical licensing boards.

Next, as a result of the state denial, the physician client’s Diplomate status with a member board of the American Board of Medical Specialties was withdrawn; jeopardizing the physician’s current employment and future employability. Yusra strategized, prepared, and successfully appealed the specialty board’s rescission, and the physician’s Diplomate status was restored.
