Janey Henze Cook

Uniquely, Janey has experience defending homicide cases with the “guilty but insane” defense and an assisted suicide defense. She has also represented victims’ families as plaintiffs in homicide cases, including the family of a homicide victim.

Her reputation as an excellent problem solver who is ultra-responsive to every client makes her highly respected by peers and clients alike, whether at the negotiating table or in federal and state courts.

Janey returns to Gallagher & Kennedy after managing her own firm for the past nine years. She previously worked at G&K from 2006 to 2015.

Prior to going into private practice, Janey served as the law clerk for two United States District Court Judges, first for the Chief Judge, Honorable Stephen M. McNamee in the District of Arizona, then the Honorable William Q. Hayes in the Southern District of California. Her service in these two federal courts gave her unique insight into criminal and civil trials and proceedings from the bench’s perspective.

During law school at UofA, Janey was a member of the Arizona Journal of International and Comparative Law. She also earned a legal internship with Arizona Senator John McCain and a summer study position at Georgetown University in Criminal Law.
