Four Shareholders Named “Lawyers of the Year” by Best Lawyers

Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A., a full service business law firm, announced today four shareholders have been named 2012 Lawyers of the Year by Best Lawyers, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession.

  • Michael K. Kennedy has been named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Personal Injury Litigation Lawyer of the Year.
  • Dean C. Short, II has been named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Sports Law Lawyer of the Year.
  • Tom E. Henze has been named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Criminal Defense: Non-White-Collar Lawyer of the Year.
  • J. Stanton Curry has been named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Environmental Law Lawyer of the Year.

Best Lawyers only honors a single lawyer in each specialty, within each community as a “Lawyer of the Year.” Corporate Counsel magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”

Michael K. Kennedy, named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Personal Injury Litigation Lawyer of the Year, is co-founding partner of Gallagher & Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy practices in general civil litigation and serves as local, regional and national counsel to a variety of business clients. Mr. Kennedy earned his J.D. in 1975 from the University of Virginia and his B.A., magna cum laude, in 1972 from Duke University.

Dean C. Short, II, named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Sports Law Lawyer of the Year, practices in all areas of general business, corporate and tax law, with an emphasis on the representation of sports franchises, including radio and television contracts, player contracts and related business issues. Mr. Short earned his J.D., cum laude, in 1972 from Harvard University and his B.S. in Business, magna cum laude, in 1969 from the University of Arizona.

Tom E. Henze, named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Criminal Defense: Non-White-Collar Lawyer of the Year, practices criminal law with an emphasis on federal and state commercial and white collar prosecutions. Mr. Henze earned his J.D. in 1973 and his B.A. in 1968 from the University of Arizona.

J. Stanton Curry, named the Best Lawyers' 2012 Phoenix Environmental Law Lawyer of the Year, practices environmental law with an emphasis on air quality, Superfund and environmental auditing matters. Mr. Curry earned his J.D. in 1982 and his B.A., magna cum laude, in 1979 from Brigham Young University.
